Oh and I don't know how you plan on doing your processing but if you take it somewhere make sure they do your process. Alot of places only do color c-whatever don't remember.

Long story short a few years back my g/f at the time couldn't wait to see the picks i did from a portrait session with her and dropped off some ilford at walmart while I was at work. Well they don't do that there , but the idiot behind the counter will sure run it through the machine.

Ruined the whole roll.....

I haven't checked yet about processing but I wouldn't be surprised if I have to mail it out. Not sure if there are many left locally that can do b&w.

You can do B&W yourself, it's three "basic" chemicals (you can get it down to two if you're good).

Developer - (Kodak D76, HC110, Rodinal, are recommended. Freestyle also has an Arista brand dvel).

Stop Bath - Can be made out of vinegar I'm told, some use straight up water but I prefer an odorless stop bath (regular smells like vinegar since it's acetic acid).

Fixer - Removes the opaque layer from the film and makes it transparent/lucent. This one's tricky. It can be reused 2-3 times but because it contains the silver nitrate (AgNO) washed off the film, tossing it down the drain is a big no-no (the first two stops can be poured down the drain). Our school has a filter / reclamation drainer since we'll consume 3-4 gal. or it in a 2 wk period, but a quick google will provide you with a number of options.

After those three, it's basically done but there are additional steps you can take to ensure the quality and longevity of the film. Hypoclear (a Kodak branded item) is used to prevent spotting or dust spots. A bottle of this will last you years.

Color (AKA: C41 processing, or if slide film, E6) can be sent to a local lab. I'm told by wise sources that WalMart does it, but sends it away to a pro lab and if you go with just the negatives it's not too expensive. For the most part I've sent my color negs to Dwaynes and have been satisfied overall.

Not sure I want to get into developing right now. I only have so much room in my old brain to learn new things.

Just drop the film off at the lab. That's what they're there for.

Ah, I was gonna offer up my Canon Rebel G 35mm. It's what I learned on. No idea what it's worth though.

Thanks Wayne & Amy but I already got a EOS 3. Ran a roll of T Max through it this weekend & will get it out to develop today. It felt good & worked flawlessly. Not sure about the eye control focus though. It seems to work fine, I'm just used to focus & recompose. Will have to play with it some more.

Did you get the manual? The eye control focus needs to be calibrated fro your eyeballs. With and without glasses. It works!

It's good that you found a camera. Enjoy!

Wayne, I got the eye control calibrated and it seems to work pretty accurately. Actually, it's pretty cool feature. I'm just not used to it yet. I've always focused with the center spot & then recompose. I just have to force myself to use & learn the eye control focus to get used to it.

It'll work for you. Before you know it, you'll be using the DEP program and looking left-right to set the DOF. Or up-down.
