Has anyone shot the Sigma 8mm on a Nikon FX sensor? They mention it's compatibility and 180 degree field of view on a full frame, but I'm wanting to know if it will give a black circle like this on the files? (i grabbed this from flickr) If anyone has some test shots that'd be swell! | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Depends.
The 15mm and 16mm are still fisheye and they dont have the black around the frame like the 8mm "circular" fisheye.
The 15mm/16mm still get 180 degrees on the diagonal, just not all the way around like the circular.

Fish-eye can be further distinguished as a circular fisheye (which the sigma apparently is) which refers to the hemispherical look. I'm interested in seeing some shots from the sigma 8mm on a FF camera, or some examples of other fish eye lenses on an FX sensor. Example: this attached photo is fish-eyed but not vignetted:

All 8mm fisheye's are going to look like that on a FF camera, regardless of the band.

anything wider than 16mm for FF w/out the black ring? I think I've eliminated everything else. Nikon 10.5 is DX, Nikon 16mm isn't much wider than my 17-35 and I could "fisheye" 17mm in PS, sigma 10mm is DX, sigma 4.5 is DX... what about the Sigma 15mm? anyone have shots from that?

The Nikon 16mm fisheye would be quite a bit wider than your 17-35.

What I'm saying is if you want the fisheye look without the black vignetting on full frame then the Nikon 16mm or Sigma 15mm will give you the full 180-degree coverage with no black in the frame.
The Tokina 11-16 can't do that or the Nikon 17-35 can't do that.

Correct me if I'm mistaken. | I can go find and scan some old fisheye stuff I have from my film days, all of the old fishe's had the black on the out side edge iirc, but you are correct the bubblous look is what gives it the term, I was trying more to be funny than technically correct however.
