Leica R lenses converted to the Nikon mount and a Nikon body. Not for the faint of budget.

OK, I'm fallowing what you are saying now. There will definitely be some compromising.

To the OP, I would get an ultra wide 10-12mm something. You can get a used Canon 10-22 for $600'ish and it's fantastic! If you move up to full frame you can then sell it for around $600'ish and no big deal.

Or the 70-200mm and add a 1.4TC for a little extra reach.
