I'm having a ball with the 400. I've just about got it kitted out.

Have a Wimberley II in the mail.

Wiil these bits finish out my kit and do double duty for an 8x10 view camera?

Gitzo GT3541XLS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs

It is generally recommended for lenses up to 500mm but I have used a 3 series Gitzo with my 600 which is in the same weight class as your 400. A 5 series would give you maximum stability with your 400 but that would be up to you and your pocketbook.

I've used my 3 series Gitzo with my 400 and it works fine, but I much prefer the 5 series. I've got leveling bases on both: the 5121LV on the 5540, with the Wimberley, and the older base (which is the same except for the handle) and a BH-55 on the 3540.
