Yeah - I figure it will be deal time. We are going far enough south that the damage is not supposed to be that bad - but only time will tell.

I've seen a few DSLRs when I've been down there so you'll probably be OK. Good luck in the luggage lottery: when you go through customs entering Mexico you have to push a button on a machine that looks like a stop light. If it turns green (which it does most of the time) you're good to go, but if it turns red you step to the side, put your bags on a table, and wait as the customs officer opens everything up and looks through it!

It turned red for me last year. It was actually a good thing - some of my wife's hair care stuff had leaked and we noticed it before it got everywhere because of the "lottery"

I fly Radio Controled aircraft for one of my other hobby's. I have carried on my transmitters, chargers, and even a 2 foot long helicopter as carry on's. No fuel, tools and batterys are in the checked stuff.

They didn't even give a 2nd look.

I have attached a photo of the transmitter, Your camera should be fine.
