Nikon body rental - 03-14-2010, 06:55 PM

Hey all! I have a Nikon D200, but honestly, it's not high enough quality for some of the magazines I submit to. I want to rent a D3 or better. Does anyone know where I can do this in Houston? Light Tec is only listing a 35mm body, and I don't see that Camera Exchange does rentals. I'm not to ecstatic to use one of these online rentals either.

Thanks in advance!

There have been a couple of reviews for Photo Rental Source in Houston in this section, if you do a search you should find them as there aren't many rental places in houston. They dont have a d3, but they do have a d700.

You're welcome, if you're looking for a creamy bokeh, check out the sigma 50 1.4. It's just buttah!

This is not for one shoot in particular. I have many different clients, and some higher budget magazines are taking notice, I want to make sure my pixel ratio is high enough. The D200 is only 10.2 megapixels, and some companies request 12 minimum.

Used them once (Jan) for lens rental and happy with service. Selection is somewhat limited to pro-sumer level gears (I was looking at 300/400mm f/2.8).

If they got what you want, I would recommend them. Good price, local pickup/drop off (+++!).

Better frame your shot right...may want to look into the D3x or something if they are giving you resolution requirements.

Not in Houston, but I have found BorrowLenses (believe they are in San Mateo, CA) to be a great vendor. This shop has bodies, lenses, etc ready to FedEx. All you have to do is place in the box supplied and send back to them. Reasonable price, great service. Worth a try.

I borrow Nikon lenses from them routinely to test before I buy.
