Compact Flash Isues - 05-01-2010, 06:05 PM

I just finished a double senior shoot today and when I got home my CF will not load the photos onto the computer. It gives me the option to scan and fix it but I'm not sure if it will erase the photos or not. And when I click continue without scanning it says "Files are corupt and unreadable"

I have no idea what to do.

The camera is a Nikon D70 and the CF is a Kingston 4G 133X

Do you have a third card, if you do shoot some test shots and see if that one will be corrupted also. If it does show corrupted you need to buy some connectors to read from the camera and after you read the cards and transfer them you need to update the software on your camera because it may be corrupted.

If the camera can still read the images, I would buy the cable you need to connect the camera directly to the PC, which in this case is just a USB cable.

If you still have a problem call Kingston and see if they offer a service to take everything off the card for you for free. Professional cards will.

I have had that problem before. Physically the CF card went bad. It was a professional grade Lexar card. I sent it to them because they guaranteed the card. They took the card apart, re-assembled the memory chips, removed the files and sent them to me on a disc. I only lost two images. All for NO CHARGE.

I never buy anything but professional grade cards that are guaranteed.
