I agree that a floor model shouldnt be purchased especially from Sears. I have seen floor models with the cap removed, and no lens and fingerprints on the sensor and this is at a major chain store with a store rep standing next to me.

EDIT: I only agree so I can keep up with Lisa's post count and that she is commenting on just about all of the 'should i buy this....' threads. :)

[blush]. I guess it's time to pass that job to someone else for awhile. Really, all anyone needs to do is repeat these simple rules: ....yada, yada, yada.....you know the rest.

There's also factory refurbished models to consider. I'm sure that a used model from a reliable source is a safer bet than a floor model from a place like Sears. Every goober in 8 states has had their grubby little hands in places where they don't belong with a place like Sears. I'm willing to bet that the sales staff at Sears has no bloody idea about what that camera has gone through.

Yep, I too would avoid a "floor model" DSLR ... especially an unattended one. If we were talking about a reputable shop that keeps its stuff under glass until someone asks to see it, I'd be more inclined to consider it. That camera would not be a deal considering what could be wrong with it from mishandling.
