Have any of you had this problem? - 06-25-2010, 10:39 AM

Yesterday I was shooting with my 7D with the 580ex 2 attached to the hot shoe. Attached to the flash was a COCO ring flash adapter. I also have Canons battery pack attached.

I was taking head shots for a young man for his audition/Casting calls portfolio...
(that's why I was using that setup)

At one point I turned the camera to portrait orientation and the camera seemed to turn off. I had to take off the flash and everything seemed to be normal.
After a while I turned the camera back around to Portrait orientation and the camera read "busy" like the buffer was full (it wasn't even close).

Last night I checked the camera a little more closely and found that the battery pack was not the tightest but it wasn't exactly loose. I am wondering if that was the cause? I will try to replicate it when I get a chance today...but also wanted to ask if anyone else has had this problem? Or something similar to it?

Could it have been the weight of what was attached to the hot shoe? That doesn't seem right but I don't like to discount anything when problem solving.

Comments? Ideas?

Thanks so much..

Daniel

Had the same problem with a 5d, had to send the battery grip in for service.

Canon gear all the way around, just toss in a bunch of other accessories and you have an addiction.
