Night time, FOCUS GOOD and LOW COST, in the same sentence? NOT!
Nikon D700 ($2000-$2700) with low light glass 24-70 f/2.8 ($1400-$2200), great combo, I have it and FOCUS great @ night and great warranty!

as mentioned above, low light and cheap dont go together

honestly your best bet, if you are new to dslr's, would be to get an entry level camera, whether it be nikon or canon and add an external flash

the flash will have a light on it that helps the camera focus in the dark and it will light the photo

That is very funny. Regarding camera choice, there are too many excellent ones depending on your budget, size and weight of camera, lens interchangeability. At times, my best camera for any light is my phone since it is with me everywhere I go! Good luck! BTW, my preference is a Leica M with a 35 mm lens. Tri
