Rattle in my camera body - 07-17-2010, 11:42 AM

not sure if i am posting in the right spot or if there is even anything that can be helped :( please pardon any rambling at this point also as my nerves are shot and i am pretty much freaking :(

I was practice shooting with my Canon rebel xti a bit ago and when i turned the camera i heard something rolling around inside! I know i have never dropped my camera, now i do have a few friends that help me on shoots sometimes so i guess there is that chance someone else dropped it and i never heard of it..

no damage to the cameras body and it seems to be working in perfect order. Now i am affraid to even move it! i worry whatever is rolling around is going to damage something..

this is my first camera and only camera... does anyone have any good ideas of what this could be or where i should go?! I am ripping through paper work to find my warranty info ( if it is still under warranty) in the time being. but was really hoping someone could shed some light to calm my fears. :(

once again sorry for the on and on and if this is not the right place
any help would be heaven sent!

Perhaps remove the lens and with the camera tilted forward about 45 degrees while you're looking inside, roll it from side to side to see if you can spot the loose object?

That's about all I can think of short of simply taking into an authorized canon camera repair shop so they can open her up.

It is the orientation sensor in your camera. That is how the camera knows if you are shooting in landscape or portrait orientation. It is completely normal.

Don't worry about it... plenty of stuff rattles and unless it's causing a problem, just keep shooting!

And if it keeps bothering you, Jerry Lee Lews has a bit a' somethin' somethin' for that.
