Just wanted to bring this thread back since I've been putting the mat cutter to use this week, getting ready for a show. Now I actually know how to use it! I've cut about 25-30 mats, all the same size and this think makes cutting them a breeze! First i use it to cut all the board to size (this model has dual cutting blades, one straight and one angled for bevels) by making all the long cuts, then setting the ruler to cut all the short cuts. Then once i have a pile of boards cut to size i start cutting the centers out which take literally about 30 seconds a piece. Being able to set all the stops makes production mat cutting super efficient with practically no human error. A perfect mat every time.

Thats great. I got one of the less expensive models, it does ok, but it was a little difficult at first. Storage is an issue with it also. I'm going to try cutting my own wooden frames next.

NIce cutter. I worked for Michaels Art Store in the framing dept while I was going to college and always wanted to take the mat cutter home. I have one of those plunging hand held ones that I cut my mats with it works but its an ordeal to setup a repeatable cutting system with it. Clamps, straight edges, but it works.

I have mat cutter envy LOL
