Question Minolta Auto Meter III F - 08-07-2010, 02:01 AM

I was graciously given an old Minolta Auto Meter III F a few months ago and I finally tracked down a manual online...

Minolta Auto Meter III instruction manual, user manual, free instruction manual, pdf manuals

After reading through the manual, however, I'm still a bit puzzled as to why I'm not getting a meter reading.

I set the ISO, the shutter speed, and then I make sure the meter is on F no...then I click the button on the right side of the meter with the dome pointed at the light and the LCD starts flashing (sometimes, sometimes it doesn't flash)...and in the F no. space it still reads O (which I read means there's nothing in the memory).

Anyone have one of these meters and care to shed a bit of light [no pun intended ")] on this situation? It would be much appreciated :)

Thanks!

the only thing that I could find in the manual that you might not be doing correctly is to press and hold the button until a meter reading appears. (page 16 and item number 5) in the manual.

The other thing is that you have a III F and the manual you linked to is a III n

My initial thoughts when you posted this problem was that you may have the meter set to wait for a strobe to fire. So when you trigger the meter, you basically put the meter into a ready state that is waiting for a burst of light to measure. You will want to find the switch that will make it work in ambient....

I just googled it, and found a different manual on the site you linked

Minolta Auto meter IIIF manual, user manual, free instruction manual, pdf manuals

http://www.cameramanuals.org/minolta...ter_iiif-1.pdf

take a look at you meter and see if the switch at the bottom right hand corner of the meter is not set to one of teh flash modes instead of ambient

Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!

So I looked through the manual, (the light meter was set on ambient, and I fired strobes into them when I changed it to 60 and 250)....but I found out it had drained my battery completely...it said in this manual you pulled up if you hit the meter button and the LCD starts flashing the battery is low...even though the battery is only a week old >_< so i changed the battery...and it worked!
