The manual will be a great place to start...
and by start I mean to read through it until you get to a phrase or term that you don't understand, and then google it to find out what it does, or why it is important enough to be included on the camera.
I think if you start with the manual, you will find that not all that much about photography has changed. All the optical laws of physics are still in place, and the camera still operates on the basis of determining exposure by setting the aperture and shutter speed based on the speed of the sensor (equal to ISO ratings in film)
All the rest of the stuff that might be camera specific to the 50d should be easily found in the manual: Things like the exposure metering patterns, and focus interactions, etc.
Sorry I don't have any specific digital resources for you to look up, but don't be frightened by the fact that it is digital -- it really isn't that different.
