Where to buy memory - 12-08-2005, 10:42 AM

Ok, I couldn't find the thread where there were some listed companies to buy CF cards from.

The wife wants to get me some memory for my 20D so I'm looking at the Sandisk Extreme III.

Any suggestions?

Buy.com, Amazon.com, zipzoomfly.com, newegg.com

Just go to pricegrabber.com or froogle.com and look who has the best price today. These things are commodity items that change price more than gasoline!

Great holiday deals at Frye's... slow 1GB cards for $29 last week. Obviously loss leaders so just get the cards and get out without buying other goodies ;-)

Sorry I did not read your date of the earlier message...

I'm looking at the extreme III cards in anticipation of getting either the 5D or the 1DmII somewhere down the road and want as much speed now and then.

Buy what you need today. Tomorrow there will be bigger, faster and cheaper cards.

Rudy beat me to it. Get no more than what you need today. Someday Moore's law will break, but I don't know how soon.

From www.webopedia.com....

Moore's Law

Quote:
môrz lâ) (n.) The observation made in 1965 by Gordon Moore, co-founder of Intel, that the number of transistors per square inch on integrated circuits had doubled every year since the integrated circuit was invented. Moore predicted that this trend would continue for the foreseeable future. In subsequent years, the pace slowed down a bit, but data density has doubled approximately every 18 months, and this is the current definition of Moore's Law, which Moore himself has blessed. Most experts, including Moore himself, expect Moore's Law to hold for at least another two decades.
sorry if ya'll already knew this...(I didn't )

I actually did reasearch on it in Univ... damn scary.. they going to reach technology limits by 2017 Intel Processors by them should be 20GHz...it why all major players investing billions to Nano Technolgy (which is really scary part)

as far as CF for 20D you don't need Extreme III, save money and Get Ultra II, Kingston, or Lexar
