Canon Rebel XSI issue in AV mode - 08-25-2010, 09:15 AM

HI -

I'm a TPF blogstalker and now new member. My Canon Rebel XSI in AV mode seems to be taking in too much light and overexposing my children's face/skin when I photograph in daylight. In Full Manual move, it is fine.

I've not had this issue in the past with AV mode. Think it could be due to my trying to photograph the sun at the beach a couple of weeks ago - is this possible?

Try adjusting the exposure compensation

All depends on how you are metering.

Try switching things up and going full manual, instead of an automatic mode. Then you will have true control of your camera.

You are smarter than your camera.

Maybe the exposure compensation is dialed up?
Maybe you are trying to shoot at f/1.8 and the shutter is maxed out at 1/4000?
Post a sample photo with the exif and maybe we can help find the problem.
