By the time I get there, Earl will just be a memory.
I doubt that NW North Carolina will feel much of the effects from Earl.

Well in that case, I would bring my 8x10 film gear.

I'm glad you put that laughing face on there, because I was starting to scratch my head about your question. I mean, as far as I know, extreme NW N. Carolina still has the same gravity and atmosphere as the rest of the world, so my complete smart ass comment would be any lens that works. But, having been around the Asheville area, I'd make sure I had my wide angle, a macro and a tele. Lots to see - gorgeous area - foliage, moving water, lots of scenery and Asheville is a funky cool town! Will any of the leaves have started turning when you go? That would be a great time to be there.

Bite your tongue. I will never ever be all digital. I'm not sure there will be room in the Turbo RaceWagon for the digital beast. No time for the bicycle on this trip. Maybe next time.

Thanks Lisa. We won't be anywhere near Asheville except possibly on the highway going past Asheville. I do have my fingers crossed for a hint of color other than green in the trees. For that reason alone I'm packing all of the 'chromes I have on hand: Koda, Ekta & Velvia. Macro is covered by the Technika Beast. Wide is covered by the Pentax 6x7 Beast and the EOS Twin Beasts: 1 and 1D Mk II. Travelling light and fast for fun-Leica & Hasselblad.

Well, there you have it. Have I forgotten anything?

Might be easier to say what you're leaving behind?

LOL! I am leaving at least 1, probably 2, tripods behind. Several cameras. More than several lenses. Considerable stock of film.

I wish! Someday I may pay my neighbor Ty Gillory a visit. Let him talk me into a wet plate camera.

Lets see, who is that, that preaches one camera, one lens, yada, yada , yada.

Or one film, one developer yada, yada, yada.

Grinning. On occasion, I'll do that. Not all the time. Not around the grandkids. They move too fast. I'm too slow. I need auto-everything digital for them.

I think I saw the light last night. When I get in the car to drive east I may only have the Digi-Beast for kidlet pictures and the 4x5 Beast with 2 lenses for the "grand landscape" photo.

Stay tuned.
