Event Photography - 09-02-2010, 03:18 PM

I could use some help. I am trying to figure out how you take a posed photo(I guess like you would at disney) and hand that person a card. They could then go onto whatever website we setup and find a photo based on the number on the card. It's for a show/event. Just not sure how the setup would be. Thanks in advance. I have found the advice here on this forum above and beyond everywhere else I have been.

Why are you sending them to a website to look for the photo?... when you could just hand them a photo before they walk away.

EDD Pro doesn't support the E-500, but it's possible Core 9.0 does.

I have found a couple of barcode scanners and systems. We are trying to drive traffic to a particular (client) website.

When you're ready to provide adequate info to get answers/info that may help you out, PM me. Right now all you've done is allude to what you are trying to do.

Can't help if you don't know the question or won't ask it.

Well, I have been trying to figure out what the right question is. I thought I had with my original post. Trying to take a picture at an event. Hand someone a card with a barcode or number. Then have that person log in to a website with a gallery, type in the number and then show them their image. So I guess the question is how do you get card number/bar code to match up with image?

You can do that using Express Digital Darkroom Assembly edition, but it's probably prohibitively expense for your needs.

Express Digital Professional Edition can be manipulated into meeting your needs, but you have to be a little creative with it. Still, it's doable.

The new Core 9.0 should be able to meet your needs also, but I've not explored its interface enough to be sure.

Assembly edition requires you scan the barcode when you take the photo to attach the barcoded info to the photo.

Are you trying to drive them to a site to buy the photo or is the photo a loss leader?

OK since times are digital what you do is create an event name code-say the event is your local Moose Lodge 234's 4th of July picnic in 2011- you may call it ML234fth11-#XXXX and the XXXX would change from 0001-9999- you would print out number cards with those in sequence and the shooter/s would have a stack of cards each and he would shoot a quick pic of the card then shoot the client (the client can have multiple shots this way) and when the photographer is through with that person they give them the card and then shoots his next card and goes to the next client. If the shooter has like 3 people he shoots 3 cards in a row and all 3 card#'s would go to the same group of shots-etc. Not rocket science and you would tie the frames to specific people and it doesn't matter what camera the shooter/s is using as long as they shoot a pic of the card/s for that group before shooting.

This is about as basic as you can get but since it's digital your not burning film. You can also say give each shooter some solid color cards-say black-blue-red-green-yellow that would have a basic meaning so that when you hit that card you know the next shots are say the officers of the group or they are general group shots etc and you can set those up for anyone to view.

Just be sure to print the event code on the cards with # large enough so that when the paparazzi-ha ha ha- can snap it quick and even if it is off focus a bit it would be readable on the comp screan as to what it is. This way you can have as many shooters as you want as long as they understand the procedure and have a stack of cards.

Another way I've seen it done is for the first picture have the persons name on a dry erase board. The next set of pictures would be for that person until you get to the next frame in sequence with new white board and new name.
