There are adapters for most mounts, but they kind of work like teleconverters on the mc/md and you lose some IQ.

How old?

If they are AF they will work on the Sonys. If they are MC/MD lenses they will work all manual on the Sony NEX cameras with an adapter that does not require extra glass.

Aren't there adapters for the micro 4/3rds cameras? Some might say that micro 4/3 aren't real cameras. The Minolta lenses would be bigger than the camera. There are probably adapters for the Olympus dSLR bodies too.

Westley???????? What say you?

Yes, there are adapters for both 4/3rds and Micro 4/3rds.

What do you mean 4/3rds cameras arent real cameras?

Yes, m4/3 have adapters like the NEX. The GF1 would probably work well, but the 2x crop factor could be bad or good depending on how you shoot.

Janet....there are several rare but good adapters to use old Minolta MC/MD lenses on a Sony Alpha....

1) Minolta 2x MA Conveter-L for lenses 200mm +
2) Minolta 2x MA Converter-S for lenses up to 300mm

(I have both and both work well...you don't get to use AF functions...it's strickly MF)

Now the real treat is a little jewel Sigma produced for about 3 years....really, really rare...Sigma 1.6x MD-MA Multi-Converter...let's you AF with an MF lens on the Sony...they made two versions one for Minolta MC/MD (MD-MA) and one for Nikon F (AI-MA)....if you find one of these snatch it up...as long as the serial number is 100000 or higher it will af on a Sony Alpha...I have both of these....my AI one works serial number above 100K the MD one does not under 100K....

Good luck...

I said some might say. I didn't say that I said. But you knew that.

Put them in a box and send them to me and I will see that they get a good burial! LOL! I have 4/3s adapters for Minoltas that I use on my Olympus e-500 and, depending on the lens, some work great... some are ho-hum... but I'll sort all that out - - you don't need to worry a bit!
