I'm looking to get a new P&S... but not sure what to get.
I want something with HD video. I'm not particular about how many megapixels it has to be. And I'm willing to spend up to $300.

I would like some suggestions....Thank you!!

I know it's a little above budget but I really love the new Nikon Coolpix P7000. It's next on my list! It has everything I need in a compact camera.

Fuji, Sony, Olympus, Pentax, Panasonic, Ricoh, lots of them. Several new models were introduced recently at Photokina. Do your homework. You may want to wait for the latest round of new models to hit the market.
Oh and Canon & Nikon make P&S cameras too.
My Canon 1DIII is a great 10Mp P&S. Alas, it doesn't do HD video. The little credit card size cameras aren't really doing HD video either. They just think they are.

Just got the Sony TX5 to replace the P&S I carry on the motorcycle. Gotta say so far I am very pleased with the performance out of such a small unit.

Here's a sample shot, although to me it looks like some of the sharpness was lost in the upload to flickr, but still not bad.

Nokia N8 cell phone

I have no idea how it functions, but the videos that I have seen from it are impressive

Ok, if we're talking about cameras with phones attached, the stills from the iPhone 4 are very impressive. Correction: What folks do with apps post exposure is impressive.

Slightly above your price range is the Canon G12 .. but you might find a gently used or closeout G11 or G10 somewhere that's in your range.

The thread here about the Canon Loyalty Program mentioned a refurbished G11 for $250 or so. That would be a great deal, I'd think.
