All of the ones I've seen are plastic, while the original has an alloy frame. So if you compare that to the original, then it's hard to call them "any good".

Just my opinion, but keep that in mind if durability is an issue.

I have the Zeikos brand "knockoff" and I was shooting with two other photographers who had the Nikon branded grip.....they both said that they'd buy the Zeikos next time they needed a grip, since it was one third the cost of the Nikon grip and looked and performed exactly the same.

My experience has been good.

Same here I have two "knock off" battery grips one for my D700 and the other on my D90 both work great and saved me money. No need in buying the name brand porduct here..

Not knocking them, but are those grips all plastic, or do they have an alloy frame also?

The generic grips that I saw when I had my D200 were kinda cheap--have they improved?

I'm going to be buying a grip soon for my D7000, and I'll keep an open mind if they're better than they used to be.
