What's your point Wayne?
I found information on the web stating that 4Gb was the largest size CF card that the 885 would accept. Fair enough. I would like to get a 4Gb card that is also suitable for the Canon 1DIII. At present, I am using Sandisk Extreme III 8Gb CF cards in the Canon.
Will a faster than base model 4Gb card work in the Coolpix 885?

In a nutshell: Will either of these cards work in the Coolpix 885? I would prefer the Extreme III with 30 mb/s speed.

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Flash Memory & Readers,Flash Memory,SanDisk,Compact Flash (CF),4GB

Thanks for your help.
After posting the link above I saw that the Extreme III CF cards are out of stock. Is there a newer card that replaced the Extreme III?

ps: I don't need the fastest card on the planet. The 1D-III can only write so fast. The 30MB/sec Extreme III cards are WAY faster than the slow poke 1D-III. Which is WAY faster than the old slow tired operator.

Thanks!

The 1D3 is slow, one of the reasons I prefer my 7D. When you have a card faster than the camera, it will only move as fast as the camera can take it.

I use the Transcend 16GIG 400x and Lexar 8GIG 300x Cards.

I know that. That's why I don't buy the latest, fastest cards.
My question is: If I buy a current card will it slow down for the 2001 vintage Coolpix 885?

Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Thanks! Now I need to find some old slow cheap Extreme III cards before they are all gone.

Hey i got bucket full of CF cards from most current models -- Lexar Pro, Sandisk Extrem Pro, Sandisk extrem, Old-skull-Extreme III, new-skull EXtreme III from 64GB - 8GB... TO SELL. Most of them are like new, i can't seem to finish The Extreme Pro 64GB alone in a day shoot... :)

When you decide what to get, shoot me a PM, i may have what you want for less.

{Edit oh wait, the Sandisk 64Gb is not for sale}

Thanks. The Coolpix 885 is limited to CF cards and 4Gb. So, I'm looking for something in the 4Gb maximum CF card and CHEAP category. I'm not in any hurry. I have 8-10 rolls of Kodachrome to finish before I start any 3Mp antique digital projects.

the new model is just called "extreme", and they are faster than the extreme 3..
there are rebates on them right now, but they are still a little expensive
