Canon projector - 12-17-2010, 05:39 PM

So I did what y'all suggested. Bought a projector to increase my sales. Apparently I suck more at sales than I thought!!! It didn't do much to increase my sales, but i still use it, in hopes that at some point it will get better. I also use it as a tv in my bedroom. I have used it in the bedroom since about Nov of last year. It quit the beginning of Dec of this year. Sent it in as it has a 3 year warranty----or so I thought. I spent $800 on it. The repair for the lamp assemble which is not covered under the warranty....is $759.

Don't think I will be investing in Canon's projectors...apparently the don't have those figured out yet...

Wow that's insane! Might as well buy a new projector!
They're supposed to have a bulb life and you can buy a new bulb for just a small fraction of the overall cost of the projector. Yikes!

I don't know what the bulb assembly is...but a new bulb was between 300 and 400 which didn't make me real happy either!! I told them to just send it back to me. I wouldn't call that a small fraction myself!! I'm wondering if this is a Canon issue or a projector issue. Since this is my first projector I am looking for some advice...as usual!!!

". Lamp ass'y requires replacement-not covered under warranty." Quote from the repair man.....You guys might be correct. It might just be the bulb. I can't believe that they would charge $250 for labor, since it takes less than 5 minutes to install the bulb, but maybe that is how they make their money???

I can. You sent it to Canon. You might get a better deal locally or be able to do it yourself.

Yeah if you look at the link I sent, the bulb doesn't come alone, it is in some sort of housing. They are around 200-400 each. What model do you have?

LV 7370.....good lord it doesn't take a rocket scientist to undo two screws and put the dang thing back in...$250 really??? I guess that is the money maker.

I called on it, because all the lights showed it wasn't the bulb that was out. Even the "technician" said it wasn't the bulb so they told me to send it in. Guess that really is the issue. Crazy..
