I have the chance to buy some sweet film gear....what would you guys pay?

I know film is basically obsolete, but I have the oportunity to buy:

Canon F-1 with 3 lenses and a 2x extender, (52mm[2.8-22] another I cant make out [2.8-22], and a 300mm [2.8-22])*it may not be a 300 2.8 could be a 200 2.8 but its hard to make out from the photo*

Canon EOS Rebel-G (body only)

Nikon FM10 with 1 lens (unknown size)

Minolta srt-200 with 1 lens (unknown size)

I know since there basically is no more film the lot can't be too expensive. I talked to my father, used to run his own photo studio in Indiana a long time ago, anyways we came up with about $150-250 for the lot. Does that seem reasonable?
Also, they are U.S. Navy issued cameras and lenses so they have, hopefully, been taken care of pretty well, if that may change anything.

Honey, I don't know where you get your info from, but film is alive and well. There is plenty out there and even new stuff coming down the pike.

I don't do much buy/sell, but I think your price range is good, maybe even on the low side (just going by what my students buy their film cameras for).

If you think film is dead why buy the equipment????

You need to find out what you are buying.

As far as I know, Canon never made a 52mm lens. They did have lenses with a 52mm filter size.

If it is a 300 or 200 2.8 Canon lens. It would be worth more than what you are saying. However, it would be a FD mount and basically only usable on film cameras.

As you have said, film is dead, so not likely very usable to you.

You can go to KEH.com and check prices.

BUWAHAHAHAHAH

I have film coming out my ears, color, B&W, transparancies, reversals, 35mm, 120, 220, 4x5, whatever. And if you think film cameras can't be too expensive, you haven't priced nice field cameras lately have you?

Since you have the A300, why not snag a Maxxum 7? All your A-mount lenses will work great on one.

Great IDEA!! I knew you'd come through, Keith!

I had to pass all this gear. This guy was crazy, wanted $45 for the Minlota srt 200 with a 1:3.5 lens (reasonable), $35 for the Canon Rebel EOS-G body only, and here is where it gets crazy. I read his text and chocked on my Dr. Pepper I was drinking....$450 for the Nikon FM10 with a 35-70mm zoom and $600 for the Canon F-1 with a 2x mulitiplier, 50mm 1.8, and a 200mm 1.8.

I bought my Maxxum 7 in mint condition with some film for $125. That was lower than usual, but they tend to be in the $200 range.

Ok Carly, I still want to know, why you were going to purchase gear that you didn't think you could use since "since there basically is no more film".

The F-1 was Canon's answer to the Nikon F-2. Impressive camera in its day.

It was a private thing. His stuff wasn't listed anywhere. I sold my an item and he mentioned to me that he has some camera gear that I may be interested in.

Why can't I buy film cameras? Even if I don't plan to use it? I am currently in college taking a photography class that requires a fully manual film camera. That's kinka asking, why are you buying so many tin lunch boxes and thermoses?

One day film will truly be obsolete no longer in existance, and the collectibility of all the intact and in good condition film cameras, like my Minolta srt 201 will go way up. And they were Navy used cameras and I was in the Navy.

I, hopefully, didn't come off condesending or rude. Voice inflection doesn't come across to well in written form. If I did, I am very sorry, I was not my intention.

"One day film will truly be obsolete no longer in existance"

Not in any of our lifetimes. Plenty of film (and papers and chems for that matter) still being produced. Its a niche market, but one that will be around for a good long while.
