does anyone make a 28-135 f2.8?

This is a discussion on does anyone make a 28-135 f2.8? within the Equipment Talk forums, part of the Photography Information category; a fixed aperture f2.8 lens in 28-135 ish range would be damn near perfect....

Tamron used to make a 28-105 2.8, but it gets tepid reviews on the web.

None of the manufacturers have shown that they can make zooms that range and that fast that retain high image quality.

Your closest thing would be the F4s from Canon and Nikon - 24-105 and 24-120.

Sigma makes a 50-150mm 2.8, but I have no experience with it. It never made review waves like the Sigma 85mm 1.4, so I am reluctant to try it. 50-150 would be perfect for my style of near court basketball shooting.

the 50-150 is interesting but looks to be aps size only. If it was any good it would be a pretty nice concert lens, but won't work on my 5DmkII anyway. 24-105 f4 have always had my eye and would work for alot of my stuff except the concert stuff.

The Nikon 28-85 2.8/4.0 is close to your ideal. Hidden in the numbers is something very interesting: minimum focusing distance. About half of the related Canon lenses. There are more to lenses than just focal length or aperture.
