Panasonic LX5 ISO Test - 01-17-2011, 04:52 PM

Picked up a Panasonic LX5 as a nice P&S to carry around and finally took some time today to do some ISO tests with it.

The setup was the LX5 on a tripod, fully zoomed in, manual settings, aperture 3.3, used in camera meter to underexpose by 1/3 for every shot (modifying shutter speed to compensate) to see how the noise was. Only edit was to crop down so they were all close to the same size. Not to bad for a little P&S.

was 23 shots so instead of overwhelming this with all the images, here is a link to them. Iso 80-12800

Cool posting. Nice to see some "real world" shots with the LX5.

Did you shoot RAW and convert, or straight jpegs?

Did you find the interface improved over the LX3?

Shot raw and just cropped and saved as jpg.

I didn't use the LX3 so had no comparison but so far everything seems very straightforward and I dont find the interface at all cumbersome.

Looks nice! If I view the original, that's a crop from the full sized image?

Correct, I cut the image down to the original being the 100% crop from the full sized original image.
