I updated the firmware on my camera...it is a 5 D...it had 1.1.0 and updated to 1.1.1. It was a Lexar Professional CF 4 GB 133x Speed Gold colored card. Pretty old card. I'm going to watch it to make sure it doesn't do it again. Hope it isn't the camera...can't afford another right now as much as I would love to have the 5dII!!

Renae, I had that same problem before and it was weird because when I downloaded the images to my Mac Pro the files where corrupted even the CR2 files but then I downloaded to my iMac 24 and macbook pro and the files where pretty good. I couldn't find out what was the problem but I retried to uploaded them back into my mac pro and the files keep getting corrupted so I decided to work them in my iMac.
Upload the files to another computer to see if the files are OK.

Good Luck!

If it turns out to be the card (hope that's it), something I do at work is label my cards with the month and year I start using them so I have a better idea how old they are. I've not had a card go bad, but it's good to have a reference point so that I can simply replace them on a regular time schedule.

I have a nice cushioned trash can where you can throw the 5D if that's the problem.

dont just chimp. i had an experience where i was in a fender bender but the passenger air bag deployed with a lot of static electricity. in new york on the way to statue of liberty. photos taken after that looked just fine on my camera screen. however when i loaded them to my computer, they all has stripes of missing data on them rendering them useless.

it was the camera and the computer chip was replaces and all was well from that point on.

but i didnt know until got the photo on the computer.
