Thinking of Uprading Equipment - 02-10-2011, 11:40 PM

I've had my D40 for almost two years, and it didn't take very long to get serious about photography. Using a D40 with 3 focusing points and it wanting to ramp up the iso in the shade has forced me to learn and become a better photographer, but as always I'm left wanting more. It's not often I can make a big purchase and I'm still a ways away from it, but I can't decide on a lens (70-200 2.8) or a body (most likely a D7000 or a comparable Semi pro body).

I love the quality the D40 puts out when it hits it's mark, but it's a very slow camera and so are my current lenses.

So simple question I guess, new body or new lens first?

I'd wait and see what the replacement for the D300s is. Probably be out sometime this year. May be leaps and bounds beyond what's currently out.

I'm with you on that one, but I'm sure it will be well over my/the D7000's price point sadly. At this point I'm all about bang for the buck.
