Cool Earliest report of the Fuji X100 in hand - 03-08-2011, 10:53 AM

A member of the Rangefinder Forum is the proud owner of the Fuji X100. In the flesh. He actually has it in his hands. Alas, his last post was from work. He hasn't posted any photos yet.
Standing by.

Mine arrived - Rangefinderforum.com

If I didn't have my M9, I'd be all over that little guy.

The X100 is going for chump change. By comparison. Go for it.

Fuji Japan issued an official apology this morning for the limited supply of cameras available in the distribution chain. It looks like I might be waiting awhile for supply to catch up with demand.

There are a number of videos floating around the web made by folks who were luck enough to get in on the first shipment. At least one of them has a demo of the panorama function. Looks interesting.

Apparently at least two shops in England got maybe a dozen each. All spoken for.
Next year should be about right.

Fuji has announced that they are suspending production of the X100 until further notice. Apparently most Fuji cameras are manufactured in China but this one is produced only in a facility within the tsunami zone. I might have to cancel my order and buy a 5D mkII instead.

I just read that at the Nikon Cafe. Bummer. Some really nice work is showing up at the Rangefinder Forum too.
Have heart. rumors at the Nikon Cafe say that Nikon will announce mirrorless plans in April. However, I reckon that anything coming from Japan right now will be subject to delays. Like Prius autos. Toooooooooooooo Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

So is the X100 a rangefinder camera? I thought I read somewhere that it wasn't.

Not really, it doesn't have that weird line up focus thing ranger finders have

It's more less a glorified point and shoot. But it sure is pretty
