Nikon D3100 mode dial problems

I purchased a D3100 about a month ago and it was working great, but today the mode dial started to get glitchy. I have been working in manual mode but noticed today that the camera was showing it was in aperture priority mode. If I switch to M, S or P it still shows it is in A.

The auto presets area also messing up. If I switch to night portrait mode then it shows it is in child mode. This is frustrating!

Anyone else have this problem?

I'm reloaded the firmware, removed the battery for a time and tried a different battery and nothing seems to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would call nikon. Fast. Get it fixed while its still under warranty.

I just got off the phone with Nikon. I have to send it in. I was just hoping for a quick fix. I really wanted to use it tonight to shoot the moon. Oh well.
