Rather than putting these photos on the thread I started on Saturday where I asked about carts, I decided it might be better to start a new one and show you all what I came up with. I had bought a running stroller off Craigslist, but when we started to look at what we would have to do to modify it, we decided to look for another model instead. A friend suggested a pet stroller, but I couldn't find any that I could see in person, so we ended up at a baby store where I found a deeply discounted floor model. I liked this one better because it is shorter in wheel base, and the front wheel turns which obviously makes turning much easier. All the fabric parts were attached with snaps and a couple screws, and only took about 5 minutes to remove. There was no modification to the frame at all. I bought 2 "milk crates" at The Container Store, which I'll bungee to the frame. When it's time to fold the frame, it will only take a second to remove the crates. It can be used with one or both crates. I think it looks sharper with one, so I can probably bungee my tripod to the single crate and rest it on the foot rest.
I am SO pleased with how this came out. I think this is going to be perfect for what I intend to use it for, and when I started thinking about it, I think I'll be using this for a lot more than hauling photo stuff. It would be great at flea markets, garage sale-ing where there are multiple sales in close proximity, and even for walks to Kroger's for a few items. I can't fit my rottweiler in the basket, but my chihuahua will!
The total investment for this project was right at $100.00 | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Looks very serviceable! Careful you don't get flooded with advice to not carry too much equipment!! Enjoy your new toy. What's the make/model of the stroller?

Ha Ha Doug! I'm thinking of all the other stuff I can cram into this baby. Jackets, food, enough water to float the Titanic!
The stroller is an In Step "Safari". I got it at Baby Depot, but I saw another brand at Target called Baby Trend which looked almost identical. The one at Target is $100.00

Suzane....I would get a few bungie cords to wrap around the cart and milk crates...so that they don't take a tumble...but I was thinking along those lines too....
Good Luck and let me know how it works...

Thanks Tony! I think it's going to be a great asset for me. In the "old days" when my kids (now in high school & college) we little, I'd often fill their stroller with things I didn't want to carry and make them walk. Baby buggies make great haulers.
Yeah, I've got several bungees to hold it all in place. I just didn't feel like strapping it all together just to take a couple pictures.

Looks great. Have fun with it. Be sure to post some photos of you and the cart on the trail. Or I guess if your husband is the one who will be pushing it, you should post pics of him and the cart.

Great idea. The caveat is that the more gear you carry the more of a target you may be to someone looking for free camera gear. Hopefully you have someone helping you, with their hands on this at all times.

I like your version too but I opted for this one to carry my camera bag, etc in outdoor areas.
It's called the ABO Beach Lugger
These are normally about $100 but Tuesday Morning will have them (probably only a few in stock, they go fast) this coming Friday morning for $39.99
