Sony SLT SDHC UHS-1 Cards? - 04-25-2011, 10:44 AM

I just got a Sony A55 as a warranty replacement for my old Sony A350 and I was wondering if it can use the new SDHC UHS-1 Cards out their. I was looking at getting the Sandisk 32GB or 16GB Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-1 Card but I cant find out any where if it can take full use of it. Has anyone used the cards in their Sony A55/A33 if so what are you findings?

Thanks in advance,
craig

i don't think the A55 can write that fast. Im not sure what the real advantage over the 30MB/s card. I don't think theres going to be an increase in performance, just the increase to upload the pictures to the computer.

Some one posted a reply on the α - Sony Alpha DSLR Cameras flickr group the folowing

"I know somebody with a 16gb UHS-1 Extreme pro card, he uses it on his a55, no problem. The whole buffer takes only 22 seconds to clear to card. I use a Sandisk Ultra 32gb and it takes 1:09 to clear the buffer ! So you can expect them to be three times as fast as the ultras. "

so seeing that i am going to see if i can get the 32GB UHS-1 card for free from my friend that works for a big resaler :) fingers crossed

That sounds like a great deal...can you finance it for me at 0% interest for 10 years with no payments due until after year 5...I think by then I could afford the $41.00 payment...Just send me the application...to juanvaledez@cofedecolumbia.com...and I will get it back to you ASAP...your making me such a great deal...I don't want to pass this one up...

If you don't do financing...would you...send me your account number so that I can send you the money right away directly to your account...you sound like a nice honest person so I don't mind doing this immediately...Then you can send me the lens...in fact if you don't mind...I will send you...lets say 10,000USD and once you get it if you will cut me a check back for the difference of 7,000USD from your bank account via a wire transefer to my account in columbia. I will give you an extra 500USD for the lens, just because you are helping me out...does that sound good to you..??

Please let me know I am really interested, and do not want to pass-up this fantastic opertunity on this great item...!!!

*OK card update*

I got the card in 20min ago and fired off the 19 shots (raw) in the 10fps mode and timed from the time i pushed the shutter down till the red light turned off bellow are the results

8GB PNY class 10 20MB/s card ~33 sec
32GB ScanDisk class UHS-1 45MB/s card ~24sec

Next I put the camera in Hi Drive mode (still raw) to see if the # of Pictures increased with the faster card

8GB PNY class 10 20MB/s card 19 Pics
32GB ScanDisk class UHS-1 45MB/s card 21 Pics

The UHS-1 card in the Sony A55 is 8-9sec faster writing and can take 2 more Pics than a class 10 but judging by that the A55 is not taking full advantage it probably maxes out at 25-30MB/s of the 45MB/s the card is capable of but it is better :)
