So on the 580EXII, it's actually the black one? I'm looking at it now, but can't get my fingernail in anywhere.... it's pretty tight.

Eh, like I said - don't put too much effort into it and maybe just nix it since you might have to be sending it back to Canon and don't want them claiming you fiddled with it and broke something if it's still under warranty.
