I'm pretty done right now. I have my babies, 70-200 and the 60 macro. I won't be a better photographer with more glass, Just one with more debt or less money. :-)

I'm trying to get nothing but "L" glass and the best of the range at the time of purchase. I'm not going to play the waiting for the next best thing game. I figure, I'll get the zoom range from 16~200 covered and then I can plug in the primes. I'm trying to be a bit smart about the primes and get the ones in which I can use a TC and still get very sharp images and have no less than F5.6 wide open. Hence the 300mm being next after I replace the 24-70mm lens.

I figure at 300mm, 420mm with a 1.4tc and 600mm with a 2.0tc, I should be well covered untill I can afford a prime 400 and 600 lenes.

Sometimes it's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.
Unless you are Scott, who's wife owns a very sharp sword. Right Scott?

As for me stopping collection lenses, several things have to happen at the same time.
1. Canon has to not come out with a new mount.
2. I have to get all of the lenses that I want.
3. Canon has to stop making new, better lenses.

Yeah, fat chance of all three happening at the same time, huh?

Maybe you'll hit the Lotto and Nikon will buy Canon on the same day

Sorry Snarfy, there can be only ONE Nikon whore per board.
And seeing as you have already laid claim to that fame, I'm going to have to bow down and paraphrase Wayne and Garth when they met Aerosmith.
"I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy"

So, you can keep collection the Nikon stuff, and I'll keep collecting the Canon stuff. As for Nikon buying Canon? Keep dreaming for that, and I'll keep dreaming of winning the lottery. ;)

Haha, touche, Alan!

I guess I'll just sit back and enjoy the view from Nikon-whore mountain as I have been for a while now.

...actually, I'll start posting a bunch soon. I've been rather busy with work (both my normal job and shooting), and I hope to get some photos posted very soon. I'm also in the works of upgrading to a D300, I'll keep everyone updated on that.

As for the topic, I'm currently on backorder awaiting the new Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. I loooove that wideangle =)

The forgiveness line is one I use quite often.

I did just spend over 3K on the D300 upgrade with lens, bag, cards, shipping, ect.

Plus the big move (ill post now) I gotta save

Well, even though I said that, I was prepared to order my second piece of L glass, and take the hit for it later.
However, my wife and I are planning a trip to Disneyland in August.
I sent her a note from my pager to her e-mail reminding her to call the AAA travel agent and ask a question.
She replied "Can I tell her to book it, too?"
To which I replied, "Sure, but if we are doing this vacation, I need that new lens in order to take the photos I want."

Her reply?

"OK, I am down with that."

So, while I WAS going to have to beg forgiveness, I asked, and I got what I wanted.

So before she can change her mind, or even ask what it costs, I ordered the 70-200 f/2.8 with IS from B&H.:w00t:
