The one I had came with a piece that sealed the top of the window around it. I kept meaning to get another one, reverse the leads (to make it pull air into the car) and put it on the other side, but we sold the car (no AC, which is why we were trying anything to keep the heat down) before I found another fan.

When traveling and I have to leave my gear in the trunk of a car, I try to use a pelican case whenever possible. I worry not only about the heat but also the possibility of getting rear-ended.

I learned my lesson a few months back about not leaving gear inside a vehicle. A fellow photographer had his gear stolen in a smash and grab incident at Mission Concepcion in San Antonio. The heat is not the only thing to worry about.
