What bad advice?
Everyone in here stated that the gear he was inquiring about (which I understood was BEING OFFERED TO HIM in trade) was not worth what he was being told by this other party. My 30 second google search turned up overpriced camera body info, but it was still well under the $3k asking price. Basically we all said to run far away.

I agree, it sounded like he was trying to acquire the equipment.

Math thing to point out....

< means less than
> means greater than
~ approx.
= equal to

I only bring this up because I am a little confused when people are listing camera gear like this.... "The D90 was once < 1000 but now around 600" this is confusing because it reads "The D90 was once less than 1000 but now around 600".... so to me it's always been under 1k. Might confuse someone that is not as understanding. I am not trying to pick on anyone or side track this thread but if mathematical symbols are gonna be used please use them in the proper way.

One story about Google prices. There was a book on Amazon and another site. Their price setting parameters made it so that this book, "The Making of a Fly: The Genetics of Animal Design" was listed for over $23 million. Prices from Amazon alone are not a good reference. As things become older and harder to find, Amazon's prices ten to go up. $900 SB-800s anyone?

Ebay has some D50s listed for $300ish and that's feels high to me for what that body is. $175 for the flash. Not sure on the lenses but I would guess not very much, maybe $60 for the 18-55mm.

That over-priced D50 on Amazon is from a 3rd party seller. Amazon's prices on new camera gear are usually as good as it gets. The prices I got for used gear were from KEH. Not eBay prices, but with a decent warranty.
