Glass problems. BIG glass problems. - 07-24-2011, 06:27 PM

Thursday I posted about having AF troubles. Not the case, I have glass troubles. My tamron 17-50mm 2.8 lens won't focus at 17-35mm and even on manual focus the left side of the photo is completely blurred.

What would any of you suggest for me to do?

Send it in to Tamron for repairs? It has no warrenty.

I do too. I actually remembered it's still under store warranty, but they're closed tomorrow. I only have a nifty fifty and 70-300mm lenses now lol. I NEED my 17-50. I feel pretty lost right now.

It looks like the mount is coming loose either on the camera or the lens.

It's definitely the lens I've uses this lens on both my d200 and d300 to make sure. Would the mount being loose cause it to become blurry like that between 17-35mm and not 35-50mm?

has that tilt-shift look eh.

Curious to hear what you learn is the problem as I have this same lens, but knock on wood, not that problem.

Even if it wasn't under warranty, I'd send it in to Tamron; if Nikon's repair pricing is any indicator, then it should be reasonable. C.R.I.S. is a Tamron authorized repair center, so try checking them out as well.

That's what I'm worried about. How reasonable is nikon?

Taylor...if you feel bold...Tom is probably right...you might want to take a screw-driver to your mount on the camera and lens and see if it need to be tightened..

If not you probably have an element that has shifted...inside the lens...I would check another lens on the body to make sure it is not the body...

Good Luck and keep-us posted...

Another thought...check your focus points on your camera too..make sure they did not get out of wack...ie to far right....

I may try to tighten it myself. Thank you for the tip!

I've used this lens on both my d200 and d300 and it's definitely the lens that's messed up. I checked the focus points as well.

I'll keep you posted!
