Samyang announces 24mm f/1.4 ED AS UMC lens: Digital Photography Review

It's full manual like their 14, 35 and 85mm lenses but I've heard good things about the 85 and 35 so this may be something I'll pick up.
Anyone here use any of the Samyang lenses? Thoughts?

Yeah, I saw this too Jake. Samyang is really going after the cheap, fast prime market. Maybe Canon will wake up and drop their prices a bit? Nah...

Heard about this over the weekend. 4 ED/UD elements, 2 asphericals, f/1.4.

I have the Rokinon branded (there are like 8 "brands" all selling the same lenses) 85mm 1.4. I've only had it for about a month, but so far I'm very impressed with it. Its focus ring has a good weight, it's accurate, and has a very comfortable throw distance. The build quality isn't a Zeiss, but it is sturdy.

I'd consider getting one if it keeps up with the image quality of their 35 and 85.

I've heard the 14 isn't too bad either, although it has some goody distortion. But for the price, it's hard to beat.

The 85 1.4, and the 8mm fisheye have been on my hitlist for a while. Read lots of good things about them. Just last week I was wishing for a cheaper alternative to the 24 1.4L, gonna have to add another to the list now :)

it will be interesting to see retail on this...

for landscapes (early morning and late evening) as well as interior and star shooting may be a good alternative to the 2K Nikon asks :)

Yep, astrophotography is what I'd be interested in using it for. Hopefully it's about the same price as the 35 f/1.4.

I love my 24L, and it's great for astro stuff. However, it's $1500 too...

That's why something like this would definitely be appealing.

Someone here uses the 85/1.4 and likes it. I've heard good things about these Samyang lenses on other forums as well.

Wow, I had never heard of this brand. Seems like these lenses would be good for video when you are manually focusing anyway.

Some samples from the lens:

As usual we show you JPEG images, straight from the camera (in this case full-frame Canon EOS 1Ds MkIII was used), recorded in the highest resolution and the lowest degree of sharpening and compression.

Not the most inspiring of images, but the quality seems good! I might have to get one.
