Hey David!
I've seen people do that, but I'm not sure how good the screen resolution is on those. My cable should be here tomorrow so I can't do some testing then. But what I like about the tablet idea is you can tweak your exposure and make changes right from the tablet, plus it's higher resolution than most of the cheaper field monitors.

Cool, thanks KenJulio! I need to try this.

I wonder if I shoot raw+jpeg, will the jpegs transfer. I'll have to see.

Im using an Android app called camcap and it works good with my Toshiba Thrive. I have some issues with the auto focus but I'm just manually focusing using the tablet for live view. They don't have a trial version though so I paid the 9 bucks or so.

Very cool, I hadn't heard of that app before. Can you change things like shutter, ISO, aperture, etc with it?

Is there a similar app for Olympus or Nikon?

This app works for most newer Canon and Nikon cameras. It has a complete listing but I don't remember it off the top of my head. I know it works with both my D7000 and D90.

The one Clifton is talking about above(camcap) looks to work with Nikon.

EDIT: I was too slow.

I missed the App switch. Thanks.

But no Olympus (doesn't surprise me).

If you're looking to transfer jpg, why not use the eye-fi card? Unless you're wanting to edit RAW files.

I just use it for composition and to check focus for the most parts.

It came up for me when I did a search for dslr tether, our camera tether.

I went and looked it up and it's listed as ”CamCap - DSLR Controller”

Here's the link to CamCap: https://market.android.com/details?id=de.xeqo.camcap

I played around with DSLR Controller for a few minutes on the Xoom and it's pretty darn cool...when it works. It's still in beta and it feels like it.
But having live view on the big screen is awesome. I'll try and post a better review once I try it out for real.
