Anyone ever use a tablet as a monitor for their DSLR? I'm talking more outside a studio and in the field.

There is a hack to do this with an iPad, and for those who want direct wireless broadcast, the device is about $1K minimum. I saw a demo of a guy shooting live to the web from a moving car.

What I'm wanting is more for focusing and composing when I have the camera in low places where I can't see the LCD easily.
Links to the wireless devices would be nice. But I'd be within a few feet of my camera anyway.

I know there is this for the iPad:
DSLR Camera Remote 1.3 on the iPad - onOne Software
But as far as I can tell it wouldn't work in the middle of nowhere where I like to shoot.

Ok...I have a set-up but not cheap...but works, works well..and is very rugged...

First you need this...

Motion Computer C5 they make other models...but this is dual core and you can bump the ram up to 4gigs....it also has the bright-sun display...you can see in sunlight....battery life is about 4 to 5 hours...once booted and on long life...if your carefull you can get almost 9 hours...(I always try to edit something while on the go)...

Second...you can use eyefi slow...so I picked this up...

From here on ebay...Wireless USB for Tethered Photography. Canon/Nikon/Sony/Mamiya w/Digital Back

It's a little bulky but works...another good computer to tether too...is the Sony UMPC UX380 series or better....

the Motion C5 is a better pick...the sony is a lighter answer....

Hope this helps out...works great...on the Sony and Mamiya take a little other adapters...then works great....

If you're using it for composition, focus and peaking, there are a multitude of 7" hdmi monitors available for $200 to $1,000 that run off batteries. Very common for Canon video shooters

That's more along the lines of what I'm needing.
But I like the idea of the tablets because they are 10" and can control the camera also if I wanted. Plus you can find some for $400.
