The 40D is one i have been considering pretty hard. I looked at the 60D but don't know that I need all the extra bells and whistles it comes with, although they are fun. Heck if I come across a great deal on a lightly used 20D I might even go that route, never had any complaints about the one I had. Thanks for all the opinions especially on the 40D.

I figure this is just a hobby (and stress reliever) for me but this is my son and daughters time so their education is first. I mean hey they have to get some good jobs so they can support my habbits! Photograhy, motorcycles and hot rods.
So that's what kids are for huh?

Also, a 30D for $350.

Canon 30d body and lens

Good luck with your search for equipment!

Thanks for the link. I forked up the cash and bought a 30D from a co-worker for $300. The camera belonged to her dad who pasted away last year and she decided to sell it since she says it has to many ( do-dads) on it, that was her wording. He bought the camera new to use at his grandsons wedding and that was the only time it was ever used. It is still in the original box and the cords, charger, disc, books and etc are all in the plastic bags they were packaged in. He never bought anything else for it so it came with the crappy kit lens. I have the same lens that came with my 20D when I bought it a few years back, so now I have two. I just need to get me a few cards since it didn't come with any. Thanks for all the opinions everyone. I think this one will work good for me until I get the kids out of college, or they get a full ride, like thats gonna happen.

Congrats on the purchase, and seems like a great buy. Can't wait to see some of your photos!

you should check out the t2i - great specs and you can get killer deals on it right now
if you need the more ruggedness or the high fps rate, can't beat a good used 40d

Congrats on the 30D. I never had one but I always see positive notes concerning them.

Sell one of the two matching kit lenses. That should help cover the cost of a card or two and then you can begin saving up for any lens you want.

Good luck and happy shooting.

I've still got 15 CF cards left from old camera, and that was back when they were expensive! I was lazy and left photos on most of them so I never sold them. I even have one microdrive which I would never recomend. I had just about all my vacation photos from Mexico a few years ago on one and it crashed losing all my photos. I listed my old one on here and Ebay a few times a couple of years ago with no takers.

My error. When you stated "I just need to get me a few cards since it didn't come with any" I thought you were needing CF cards. Then sell one of the twins (I refer to a lens not his children) and you'll be ahead of the game on saving for a lens you may want down the road.

Good luck!
