Mamiya 645 AFD film back problems - 09-14-2011, 04:57 PM

My Mamiya 645 AFD 120/220 back is stuck at 120 no matter what I put the insert on. I ran 3 rolls of 220 through it just to make sure. Each roll did not go past 16 exposures. Any info would be appreciated!!

I would write them-email- with the exact model # of the back and heck even the serial # and explain your problem. Whenever I have met one or more of their reps at conventions they have always been real open to questions.

Did you check to make-sure all your contacts are clean...the four gold contacts on the insert and on the back...

Another thing to check is the LCD window on the back showing the correct flim...?? If not there is a button cell battery that may need replacing...

Hope this helps out...

I checked the contacts and changed out the battery... and it still shows that I have 120 loaded. I might have to write Mamiya.

Actually I don't use a 646, but a RB 67 Pro SD and there I have to turn the pressure plate in some magazines (motorized 6x7 and 6x8) when I want to use film type 220.
Basis material of film type 220 is a little thinner than 120, so the pressure plate has to be adjusted to the correct thickness and automatically to the length - and, of course, the numbers of pictures to be taken.
Maybe it is the same in your camera?
Regards
Frank
