Ive only used the Canon TC80N3 and it worked well but like you say its like $150. not cheap.

Ive been wanting to get another one but prolly not the Canon version since I wouldnt use it very often I have a hard time spending that kind of money on one...

So far Im leaning towards this $50 option:
Vello ShutterBoss Timed Remote for Canon with 3-Pin RC-C2 B&H

Plus if it doesnt work I can always return it... you can read the reviews on that link above.

ps. man its been a long time since I've been in your shop there... I need to make a trip there next time i'm in town.

I've had the Canon one, this one Sonny linked and some other cheapo one the was DOA.
The one above works just fine for me. The controls are just a little different than the Canon but not by much. I prefer the Canon one but it got stolen and it's not $100+ better so I've never replaced it.

I have the Yongnuo version of the Canon TC-80N3 and have not had a problem yet. They can be found on eBay and other sites for as low as @ $25.

I have the one being sold at Cowboy Studio, works great never had any problems with it. It doesn't have a ON/OFF switch would be my only gripe, but I've taken over 10,000 shots with it in a year and 1/2 and still not changed the battery, so I guess it really doesn't matter.

The Canon version doesn't have an on/off switch either.

When shooting shuttle launches at Kennedy Space Center some friends and I used both the Canon TC-80N and some the clones.

Never once had a problem with the 10 or so Canon TC-80N's and out of the dozens of clones we used one would occasionally fail, luckily the knock offs would not work when testing so we caught nearly every one of the failures and having multiple cameras set up helped if one did fail to capture images.

I still use both the Canon and after market timers, hope this helps.

James
