I admit I'd rather see a stainless steel pin and I told the inventer about it. I'm waiting for a reply. He seems very eager for feedback on this unit.

If you are passing along ideas, add that the pin should be tied somehow to the unit so that it won't get lost/dropped. As it already has a ring on it, a simple wire to the top section would be sufficient.

I am confused. The inventor said above that "a year ago there was no tripod quick release", however Bogen/Manfrotto have had quick release plates for at least 20 yrs and I had a Slik tripod with a quick release plate in 1978. I think this is a neat idea, but it isnt really original.

Generally speaking, quick release plates refer to camera and lens plates. This allows removal of one head (e.g. gimbal style) and replacement with another, such as a ball head.
