Recently, Canon released the 1DX and the C300.

Nikon, on the other hand, has released some heinous little gremlin with a miniscule sensor that comes available in pink; has a factory underwater in Thailand; and pays Ashton Kutcher to represent them in advertising.

... really?

When Nikon wants to market a camera to guys like the D800 ...
they will unflood the factory and use a hot chic for ads.

Ashton Kutcher and the pink little gremlin are for us chics.

Its not the size of your sensor that matters ... its what you do with it that counts !!
But if you must know we girls talk who has the biggest ... and uses it best !!

First off Canon hasn't released a thing. Both were 'announced' a lot like the 1D MKIII and MKIV were and we all know how well those went over (or are my impressions out of focus?). And boy! Do I remember when Nikon would announce a product and then ship it 6 months later. They sure don't do that anymore! Good luck Canon folk.

As for pink cameras and Kutcher - I think SueGirl cleary understands what may not have been so obvious to some.

And as for the disaster in Thailand, I'm very surprised you didn't add Nikon's factory in Sendai which was also heavily damaged by the tsunami. Seems if you're going to hit low, might was well go all the way down.

Finally, forgive me if I missed this part but what is it about the newly released errrr, announced 1DMKX that makes it any better than the Nikon D3S? Seems like a lot of catching up to me...

A good point, I'm curious how much of a dent the 1 has against the other EVIL cameras; I've been shooting Nikon digital since the d100, but I just bought an X100 for my mirrorless and would definitely opt for the EP-3 before the 1.

But I digress. These new Canon products are very exciting. Just when people are forecasting the stagnation of the market, a company steps up and raises the bar. Innovation keeps it all fresh, lets hope the others stay competitive!

Oh and in case anyone missed it:

Pardon my error, you're right. These cameras were *announced* recently, not released.

I understand the niche marketing and product placement that Nikon has meticulously used for sales enrichment. I'm a designer, this was not lost on me. Even as a Nikon shooter, I'm giving Canon credit for innovation.

My statement was intended to be humorously satirical, with a dash of irony. It was not intended to spark a Canon vs Nikon debate, nor be taken as an attack on any company. I delight in the announcement of products from all camera companies, as they all move the industry forward.

And, once again, pardon my colloquial blunder, as I misused "release" in place of "announce."

He does shoot with a D700. The 1DX does video better,
