What lens and how old is the D7ooo?
I ordered one and it was soft and had back focus issues from B&H, I called them ASAP to exchange it and they did and I have one that is awesome! Just like my first one that I got about a year ago!!!!

I think there was a firmware update that dealt with that also, could be wrong though.

Thanks everyone for the info.. I wrote this thread because a friend of mine and I were shooting in studio last week and he noticed softness on his D7000 upon picture review zoomed in. He was shooting with a 24-70. We did an experiment. I put his 24-70 on my D700 and he put my 70-200 on his D7000. Same results. My pics were sharp and his were soft. We even switched cameras and shot the same pics. This was his second D7000 with that issue.

Another friend is considering the purchase of the D7000 and I am trying help her out by reaching out to you all.

Thanks again for the info and I will tell her about the firmware update.

So are the pictures soft when uploaded in Lightroom/CS or any other editing software?
