Rob Galbraith, among others, has reviewed the
Nikon 1 Series and seems to like it. He has a new review of the
FT1 adapter. With the adapter AFS lenses will autofocus in the static mode only, but can yield pretty interesting results. He posted images captured with an 85mm f1.4 which are quite interesting. He also discusses the use of the 70-200mm f2.8 (and cautions about not letting the 1 Series body support its weight as it is not capable of doing so without possible/probable damage.
I suppose that virtually everyone has been pleasantly surprised at the performance of the sensor in these bodies.
Kirk Tuck and Steve Huff both seem to like the 1 Series.
Kirk has described his V1 w/10-30mm lens as "almost pocketable". Aside from his review of the camera, Kirk
shot a rehearsal with it and commented favorably about the ISO performance.
Huff did a
low light/high ISO series and the results were quite good I thought.
The images posted in this thread are very good indeed. The night shot of the Alamo is one that can quickly show noise because of the high contrast and the black sky that will show any noise quickly. Sure, everybody uses noise reduction in PP and sharpens the images a bit, but that is a given nowadays. (Galbraith used Noise Ninja and the auto sharpen setting on his images.)
I will say that the sensor in the 1 Series seems to have noticeably less noise than the one in the Olympus E-PL2 I have been using.
Cheers
