OK, still on the plan for my big trip next year.
..Obviously I plan to take a shot or two... maybe even take my finger off the trigger for more then 2 seconds.

This in turn will create a big need for storage.
The D300 only takes a CF card which for a 16 gig card down under is $295. (mind you Ive just looked at Adorama and could order from them for $179 for a 32 gig card)

16 gig gives me about 600 shots. I reckon that I could probably do that in a day lol.

a 2 TB external drive is again about 200 bucks here but then I have size, weight and the variation of voltage between countries.

Now that Ive had a look at Adorama Im more leaning towards just the CF cards and just making sure that Im not an idiot and loosing any. But will I need a 1/2 dozen of these things when I finish my trip? Where as I can always use hard drive space???

Anyones thoughts suggestions? Anyone had and problems with loss of memory having images corrupted going through airport scanning? or the like either from memory cards or external drives?

Buy a NetBook and put a 750gb drive in it. Most handle 100V-230V you'll just have to get an international adapter (which is a multi-prong outlet device). At least, that's what I did to solve the problem.
