Automated Microfocus Adjustment - 12-03-2011, 10:10 AM

This could be very cool. Put up a focus target, hook-up camera to computer, and run the program and get the microfocus adjusted automatically.

Version 0.7.5 so it's a work in progress.

It's only for Canon 5D mk2 and 7D.

I've just started playing with it and it seems to work well. I can see this being a commercial program.

Call me stupid but... Does this change the BIOS in any way on the camera or is it just software for the PC?

The program take over the camera like the EOS utility, set the camera for the as
required for the test, shoots several shots of the target and then sets the focus adjustment.

Yep, you're right. No changes to the camera.

I'm Rich - the author of the software. I'm hoping to release the first non beta release on Friday - its in closed beta testing at the moment and looking good.

Yep - I had it working on a 1Ds3 before making significant changes to the camera interface layer.

I won't release camera support without validation, and I've been focusing on the image analysis reliability. Now that it's ready to release, the next step is to add the 50D and 1Ds3 (as I can get easy physical access to those two through friends), then 1D3 and 1D4.

Then it's on to Nikon... :)

Welcome to the forum, I applaud your ingenuity. You just blew every other way of micro adjusting out of the water. Anybody that markets an alignment device should be on the phone to you. I hope your intellectual property is protected, this could be pretty big.
