D200 sensor cleaning. - 12-04-2011, 10:30 AM

Could someone point me to a good (accurate, reliable) tutorial for cleaning the D200 sensor. I had the class a while back but memory is fading (should have taken better notes...)
Thanks
John

Cleaning your sensor is basically the same no matter what camera model. With that being said here are a few tuts I found.

This is a great overview of many different methods available for cleaning your sensor.

Air Blower

Copper Hill Method (Wiping)

Lenspen Sensor Cleaning

And this one is just for fun!

If you close the shutter on your cleanning stick they (Nikon west) do a great repair job.

That is my major concern and the primary reason I posted. I hope you didn't learn that the hard way...

I was so worried about not letting more dust bunnies in that my inate goofyness took over and premature shutter action ensued. We have a pro in Houston that does this sort of thing, I'll look for his link.

That was one of my major fears. I had the tutorial from Archinal Camera over in Richardson TX a while back. It was a good class, it's just been a little longer than it should have been since I took it. I'm not so good at taking notes and my memory doesn't seem to be improving as I get older...

Anyway, I tried it and either I did a good job of cleaning it or a lousy job of simulating a blue sky to check for spots... guess I will know for sure if the sun ever comes back out.

Thanks to you guys for your help and advice.

I took my best shot at it with a piece of white paper. My goof up was not shooting the white paper before I did the cleaning. I knew where the spots were already from some recent bird shots... hopefully the Sun will be back around this weekend (although this rain is surely needed.)
